IndySoft Corporation, a leader in calibration and asset management software, today announced that Walter Nowocin is taking on the role of life sciences product manager, effective immediately. In this role, Nowocin will work closely with development, marketing, and sales to ensure that IndySoft is optimized to support calibration quality systems in the highly regulated life sciences industry while maintaining compliance with FDA, GMP, and ISO requirements.

Nowocin joins IndySoft with over 40 years of experience in the calibration industry including 21 years of experience in life sciences, coming from Medtronic, the world’s largest medical device manufacturer. Nowocin has a Masters in Engineering Management degree from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and is an ASEM Certified Professional Engineering Manager (PEM).

“I’ve known Walter for over 15 years as he was a part of the selection team that vetted and eventually chose IndySoft as Medtronic’s calibration software provider in 2002,” said Rhett Price, IndySoft’s co-founder and CTO. “I’ve always had great respect for him as I watched him develop Medtronic’s calibration lab into a first-class facility while pushing IndySoft to meet their requirements of a highly regulated business. Over the years his feedback as a customer always made us better. I can’t wait for him to be on the inside so we can truly develop our Life Sciences product to be the go-to software for the industry.”

“I have had a strong passion and support for the IndySoft software tools and company for the past 17 years and I am very excited at the prospect of adding value to the team,” noted Nowocin. “I am so blessed to have had two wonderful careers with the United States Marine Corps and with Medtronic, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to pursue my dream third career with IndySoft.”

In addition to Walter’s role as senior engineering manager of Medtronic’s calibration laboratory, he has an impressive resume of contributions and leadership in the engineering management community. He is currently the chair of the NCSL International Healthcare Metrology Committee, he was an associate editor of the 4th Edition of “A Guide to the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge”, and he became an American Society for Engineering Management Fellow in 2017. Additionally, he is an adjunct instructor at St. Cloud State University, teaching Innovation and Engineering Management courses for the Executive Masters in Engineering Management program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Walter to the IndySoft team,” said Director of Sales & Business Development, Mitchell Jones. “There are few people in the world that have the knowledge base that Walter brings regarding calibration and metrology in the life sciences industry. IndySoft aims to be a major player in the life sciences market, and we have confidence that under Walter’s guidance he will drive us there.”
